Night Lamp Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Night Lamp

The night lamp in the street
It beckons.

Cannot you hear it
Clanking?

Clank-clank-clank: ah!
Its familiar sadness!

Its drawling sounds and
Notes
Jarring and
Mellow

The night lamp in the street
It beckons
Till they put if it off
En masse with other night lamps
Switch off the heart of night
For the calm dawn is on.
