Nighttime's Retreat Poem by Billy Loving

Nighttime's Retreat

Rating: 5.0

Sun setting in the west
Work day done, time to rest
Sweat covered skin
Empty stomach, hunger within
Aching tired feet
My journey home, I complete
My wife waiting at the door
Smell of supper to strong to ignore
A kiss, soft and sweet
As we go inside, time to eat
We sit and pray
Plate full, we share each other's day
A quick shower, ready for bed
Eyes closed, resting my head
Sleep, soon the battle won
Suddenly awake, eyes blinded by the morning sun
Time to start another day
As at the beside, I sit and pray
