No Invitation Poem by T.J. Daniels

No Invitation

Rating: 5.0

She was invited to the dance
he was not.

Her invitation was still in her hand
his were empty.

As he approached her
she became wary.

She knew from his attire
that he was from the other side of town.

When he asked her to dance
she felt strange
but not unpleasant stirrings
deep within.

Smiling
she held out her hand
in acceptance.

As they walked to the dance floor
a strange peace enveloped her.

And she knew that they'd have many dances
on many summer evenings.
