No More War! Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

No More War!

I was born after the second war
Then at age three, another had began
The tragic conflict was not very far,
Solved by dividing a nation of one.

Conflict in this world somehow prevailed
In pretended peace, a war had grown cold,
Lust for power and for territory failed
To silence the weapons, as Death unfolds.

Lost lives were merely recorded numbers
Shattered families torn by their grief,
Mocked by the greed for control and power,
The unity of nations was a bond so brief.

Gone is the hope for a concept of peace
When men magnify their differences,
Diversity of countries will never cease
We must all live together in mutual progress.

It is when men mar their motives -
Fighting for borders, conflict is birth,
Blinded to 'Take' and not to 'Give'
It's the real cause of War on Earth.
