No One Else Poem by Rebecca Paul

No One Else

I am broken;
Smashed to bits, torn to pieces.
Left to wither on my own,
Defenseless and alone.
I am crying and bleeding on my
Bathroom floor,
Thinking of you, of who you were
And who you’ve become.
Why I thought you cared.
Why you never could.
Your words strike the spot
My heart should be.
Left without feeling or conscience.
I rule my own life with
No direction.
I believe in myself,
For no one else can.
I hold my own chin up,
For no one else can.
I fight through the tormenting dreams
And nightmarish realities,
For no one else can.
And there you are.
Holy, pure, chaste.
Standing on your altar of condemnation,
Your pedestal of contempt.
Hate, hate, hate.
No one else can see it.
No one else looks past the glamour to find the truth.
So when I look in your eyes,
I don’t see the one who wiped my tears.
I see you for who you really are.
Your chance to save me has passed.
No one else can save you now.
