No Place Nation Poem by Xavier Cole

No Place Nation

This is a Utopian story
And my utopia is just as real as the 3rd Toy Story
Where Blacks and Mexicans meet to take the glory
And 'whites-only' was just a way of being ornery
Where the Eiffel Tower is renamed the We fell Tower
Showing how we experience the rise and fall of power
Yet we all come together to take the final hour
And racism and hate hide in a corner and cower
This isn't the year, this is the day
When bullets aren't flying and we can come out and play
And when a couple of the same sex
Can say 'I love you', and not be gay
Where religion is a swear and we don't have to pray
And if there is a God, he'd smiled down all day
Utopia is a word meaning no place
And we have this idea that the world is a smile on our face
And racial hate is a waste, a disgrace, in our no place
My mother always told me to live for tomorrow
And I have at least mostly
And I know that this isn't an idea that you borrow
But if you fail it can be costly
This no place can be is the haven for all
Whether it be spring, summer, winter or fall
And the idea for this can from a dream
And no I am not talking about Martin Luther King
I dreamt this up and feel happy, matter of fact, I feel proud
This is a place of light, no darkness to shroud
And when I woke my utopia was born
From laughter, joy, and 237 years of oppression and scorn
"Now i know this isn't an innovation
Yet it came into being because of -
A creative state in my imagination
And dad when you see this recreation
You'll be glad I imagined a no place nation! "
