No Pretender Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

No Pretender

Rating: 5.0

I was never pretender
Simple man and passenger
Waiting for chance to prove as humanitarian
Rare task not taken by any of the historian

What is there to write about history?
About old heritage and slavery
We were kept under the heel of poverty
Since then we are not what were already

It is difficult to come out of old tradition
There is difficulty in facing stiff conditions
It is unbearable to remain under somebody’s yoke
Many old people still reminds us about cruelty with joke

I find worrisome faces
Still wanting to forget pass traces
It reminded them of cruel past
The time has moved very fast

Yes old habits die hard for many people
Still they run away at the sight appearance of trouble
They have run out of patience for another phase
They want peace and no trouble or mad chase

Despite all these, I shall try
Project freedom ideas and fly
Along with strong desire to remain one
That is only dream to cherish and sustain
