No Shield For Perseus Poem by Laurence Overmire

No Shield For Perseus

Rating: 5.0

Medusa pulled out a corporate face
To cover the snakes
Coiling and hissing out the
Sides of her head

The Armani fit her so well
But then
She always looked good
In black

The tie strapped around her neck
Was a bit uncomfortable
A small price to pay to lick the nape
Of Power

Behind a mahogany desk on a
Penthouse floor
With the polish of shoes and belts and that
Gucci Gucci Goo

She welcomed her victims
Promises of riches to convince them of
Their selfless worth, One
Look in her cold, inviting eyes and

They knew
Seduced to do her bidding
Their hearts tragically turned
To stone.
