The show they say of nothing is about
must leave the air.
I don't know how I'll live without
it. Should I care?
Since nothing is my subject too,
should I depart
as well? I wonder. If I do
who'll take my part?
Elaine and Kramer, George and Jerry
have shown me how
to play my nothing role. I'm very
empty now,
since all I know I how to fill
myself with gas,
running empty down the hill,
nobody, alas.
Jerry Seinfeld, whose series is famously “about nothing, ” has decided that this will be his last season.
I added the final quatrain on 11/30/09, after Sonia Levitin had responded to my poem “Nothing” by writing:
“And then there's Seinfeld...which we could never watch after the first couple of tries.”
