Nonsensical Sensory Poem by Adam Holmes

Nonsensical Sensory

Rating: 5.0

Ears listen for noise
Lungs gasp for breath
Eyes search for sight
Hands feel for touch
Hearts wait for love
Minds think for reflection

Ears listen for noise
Spare me your spoken word
If I’m supposed to be listening
You waste your time breathing

Lungs gasp for breath
Every time I speak my voice goes flat
If im supposed to be talking
You waste your time hearing

Eyes search for sight
I could use a little light
If I’m supposed to be watching
You waste your time reaching

Hands feel for touch
Calloused fingertips go numb
If I’m supposed to be waving
You waste your time looking

Hearts wait for love
The watch says I’m late for something
If I’m supposed to be loving
You waste your time thinking

Minds think for reflection
Mirrors return weak images
If I’m supposed to be reflecting
You waste your time waiting

Another lyrical, almost self-loathing masterpiece. Colette
