Not A Single Cell Is Mine Poem by john tiong chunghoo

Not A Single Cell Is Mine

everything is god
except that voice
in the universe that
continuously asks
WHY, WHY, WHY

in fact you are not
even you - the physique
a panel the Almighty
uses to control 'you'
just in case you wander too far

the eyes to just tune into this realm
the channel that he allows

the ears to delve into the echo of
that distance

i envy the dog and the whale
and the elephants

but thanks god i have a nose
that swing my tongue from carcasses

and a mind that could
cross many realms
and get to the Almighty himself

though not a single cell
i can call my own
they grow and die
at the hands of SOMEBODY else

WHY WHY WHY
