Not Much Poem by Joan (Gabby) Kirby

Not Much

i don't know why i can't lose weight
i really don't eat that much.
just my fruits and veggies,
and eggs and meats and such.

sometimes (but not too often)
i'll have a piece of cake
or perhaps a hot fudge sundae
or some cookies that i bake

i don't know why i can't lose weight
i really don't eat that much
just cheese and breads and cereals
and hamburgers and such.

if i buy a hot dog
i'll have a plate of fries
and if they come with gravy
i'm pleasantly surprised

i don't know why i can't lose weight
i really don't eat that much
just three square meals every day
desserts and snacks and such

i eat a little sandwich
with my mayonnaise
and cold potato salad
on long hot summer days

i don't know why i can't lose weight
i really don't eat that much
just fudgicles and ice cream
and chocolate bars and such

a thousand island salad
is really nice for lunch
with crispy, crumbled bacon
to give it added crunch

i don't know why i can't lose wieght
i really don't eat that much
just cheesies, nuts and pretzels
and potato chips and such

i love a creamy milk shake
or an ice cream soda pop
or a cup of rich hot chocolate
with marshmallows on the top

i don't know why i can't lose wieght
i really don't eat that much
it must be all that diet coke
tomato juice and such
