Notes On A Study, 'Calvinism'

Some notes on this weeks study on Calvinism - Our changing behavior must lead us to brotherly love and love for all mankind and react to things by love not ideology…todays fundamentalism blames the victim, the poor and the oppressed, opposes helping the poor and giving people healthcare etc. just like the reformation churches backed the Nazi movement during world war two and backed Hitler. This started over Roe versed Wade concerning abortion and evangelicals that were mostly democratic started backing up the republican party now they are completely used by the conservative movement for votes and they have incorporated the propaganda into their system. This virus is now rampant and it is not from Christ. Many churches actually think the free market without restraints from environmentalist’s ideals is from God. They reject global warming from industry’s affects. They incorporate all kinds of false beliefs as if it’s the Gospel. GMO’s are more rampant then ever, totally against Scripture, and the poor are disdained while jobs are shipped out to sweat shop labor across the sea. There is no teaching on the jubilee and the returning of property every 50 years or 7 year debt forgiveness. So many churches are homes for the status quo and reinforce ultra capitalism, nationalism and false gods in the name of Christianity. The gods of war live…the gods of soil, the gods of mammon and money all covered up in a blanket of religion. The stranger, alien and foreigner despised and churches back up the rich over the poor. These clans, clicks, denominations, mega churches are filled with half-truths and simply do not work for many a sincere person who can see right through their worldliness.
Poverty begins to be looked at as if you were outside of the will of God and a social stigma was attached to it like you were lost etc….Much of Christianity and salvation became other worldly, transcended and Hellenistic. Sociologists like Max Weber and others begin to see how these religious views became secularized. The protestant work ethic and views and disdain for the poor. We can easily see studying this how Churches of protestants could become split and calling social justice, “the social gospel.” This syndrome exists today. History becomes the collective unconscious. We inherit prejudice etc. If the poor are lost then worry about the saved. Many wrong attitudes enter religions. Calvin also wrote on the charging of interest so he influenced economics. Private property became a sacred right of the saved and once secularized, men had the right to own the earth. So different then the jubilee of the land returning to the original tribes every 50 years and the land being Gods and even in the midst of privacy the poor could eat in the fields with no fences. Even private property concerning land was used for the poor, widows, foreigners in the Torah. Now, “Manifest destiny” begins to develop…the saved had a right to the world, they were elite and blessed. Is it any wonder reservations would develop, occupying peoples land would be justified. Instead of Christianity becoming a religion for the poor we see it gets used as an impetus for conquest because so many false doctrines were integrated in it. Instead of Christianity becoming a protector of nature and the environment, the saved and elite have a right to forge it into their wealth. Earth becomes capital, wealth and once these attitudes mix with the industrial revolution…LOOK OUT!
