Nothing To Claim Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Nothing To Claim

Rating: 5.0

Oh no, it can’t be me
I was full of worry
Stood there before mirror
Felt as if there was some error

Either mirror was reflecting wrong
Or I was playing wrong song
Where was sweetness on face?
This man in mirror was from different race

Wrinkles with deep scares
That was what I dared to stare
Face was same but with awkward reflection
Oh god, what could be my reaction!

I was handsome and bright
Even one could notice without light
I had smile all the time
Though felt sad sometimes

I used to run along with horse
I had full of energy of course
I was swimming Entire River
Never felt any kind of fear

I felt as if land was slipping away
Ground was not firm and giving way
I was restless at real refection
What had I in store for action?

I got to accept reality
It was unpleasant surprise from almighty
I was on decline
So must always feel fine

Seasons too adjust
So also men must
Time waits for none
How can I be exceptional one?

Yes, years have passed
When I had chased
After time to have fame
Now I am alone and have nothing to claim
