Nowhere To Run Poem by Lee Crowell

Nowhere To Run

Rating: 5.0

when the time is near
you can't look straight into the eyes
can't even cast a sideways glance

when the time is near
there is nowhere to run
no rock to throw
no bush for cover
no negotiation
no chance

when the time is near
you feel something much less than emptiness
your essence ties into a knot
doom transcends everything you know
to become your final friend
unlike the strutting gang lord
staking claim for your turf
he has a simpler task

take the split second to exhale
you weren't ready for this
no one ever is
