Numb Poem by Kerry Sheridan

Numb

I try not to feel you,
Try,
You keep standing
over me,
a great unforgivable
cloud

In the dark you
break
me, silent.
A ghost,
of what I was.
Who I was.

I have taken
what,
you have given me.
Black on blue.
And made me
numb.

Miles apart,
separated
by empty sheets.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem I wrote as a response to a fictional character in one of my stories. She was raped, but like in many cases she knew and possibly even loved her attacker.

Reads like a bad relationship that needs attention.
