Nurses Poem by Joann Carrano Passmore

Nurses

God above knew from the start
That nursing would be a special art
It takes a special person to be a nurse
Even though at times we think it’s a curse

We try to heal the patient that is sick
We do not get to choose or pick
We treat them like they are our friend
Even up to the very end

We try to make them whole again
And try to take away their pain
We give them injections in their hips
We try to give them healthy tips

They expect us to make them well
But they don’t understand there is more to tell
More for them to learn and understand
There is more than stepping up and taking a stand

Nurses give from their heart
And we are glad to be there from the start
To give a helping hand
And to help them grow and understand
