Obvious Secret Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Obvious Secret

Tell me it's going to be ok.
Lie to me if you have to.
I don't mind in today, as long as you tell me gorgeous tales of a future
Where we can co-exist together happily.
Tell me we will make it through this dreadful mundane time
That exists between now and then.
That I don't need to hold my breath because you will be there waiting as soon as the chains we carry fall and crash to the floor.
Worries like these have never haunted me before
I never had someone here to believe in, to pray to be near always.
What a cruel blessing of happiness,
a tease and a feeling I know I can't keep.
Do not forget that you are by far the best thing that has graced my crazy world.
And I have led a beautiful life.
Yet everything before fails in comparison to what I dream about now.
Is this what happens when a person is the source of your thoughts and emotions?
It's been a multitude of lifetimes since I've known such things.
A thousand years since someone has worked so enchantingly on my heartstrings.
I must confess it's become something quite romantic for me.
That's neither here nor there really.
Little secrets that allow time to pass in effortless happiness.
Obvious secrets.
I see you see me, you know, I know.
I hope you don't feel too sorry for me.
Lie to me.
The whole earth is waiting for us to travel it.
Discover true freedom and explore new realms.
I can't wait until my days are filled with laughter, with a person who knows how to make me smile.
Who likes me as I am, for all I can be.
I love who I am when I'm with him.
No one quite understands.
People get carried away trying to identify, analyze, and seek answers.
They'll never quite understand.
I don't plan to.
That's ok, in some ways, it's quite apparent.
I have an obvious secret.
