Ocean Journey Poem by Michael Caldararo

Ocean Journey

Bright light shining in from the sky,
Dancing across the waves tossed high.
From side to side and to and fro
My vessel dances high and then low.

The salt and air are surrounding my face
With seasoned splashes and weathered grace.
Upon my deck little creatures lie
They are strange and artful, a little shy.

The smell and sounds bombard my head
As I applaud the feeling, my tension has shed.
I feel the surges, the ebbs and rolls
The sedated feeling when I reach the shoals.

My heart how it’s racing and beating quite fast
As I hold the grail and live through my past.
I feel and I know I’ve been through here before,
But is it a dream or just a muted chore.

Without any warning I succumb to a thought
And I feel that I’m scared or maybe distraught.
I don’t understand, I was feeling quite fine
Is it possible that I maybe have crossed the line?

A quiet calmness blankets me slow
And a peaceful condition within me does grow.
I accept there’s a place where we all may ascend
And feel the finality of a religious blend.

With the shimmer and brightness my eyes seem to see
I turn to the shadows and see what appears to be me.
Suddenly from nowhere there comes a huge hand
That has delivered me back and helped me to stand.

I now see the irony the muse of it all
I’m shaky at best but do not fall.
From the grace of the sea to the island shore
I see what is meant by forever more.
