Ocean Ocean, Universe Universe Poem by Hailey Swanson

Ocean Ocean, Universe Universe

Swimming with the wildlife, diving in Bonaire,
Shooting through the stars, blasting through the air.
The ocean covers 71% of Earth's surface,
But what is the universe's purpose?

Ocean ocean, you look so very blue,
Universe universe, you are gloomy through and through.
Comets are like fish in the sea,
No where else could they possibly be.

Reefs of dust float in mid-air,
Like bright green algae without a care.
Both worlds are large no different at all,
Lumps and bumps both rather big and rather small.
Travel in a deep sub or rocket ship,
All you can eat is one meager chip.

Sail out in the vast ocean,
But watch out for all of the commotion!
Shoot right through the night sky,
But please, please try not to cry.
Go down below, straight into the sea;
Go up above, wheres Connie Sue and Tommy Lee?

Now I see, Earth isn't a small fuzzy flea,
Nor is Earth a giant giggling, buzzing bee.
I need to drop back down, sail back from sea,
I need to be next to my Connie Sue, and Tommy Lee.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I dedicate this poem to my mother and father. I could never leave them behind to go anywhere so far out as outer space, or as deep as the ocean.
