October's Glory

At my feet fall tomorrows trees
nestled among gnarled roots
acorns strewed
swaddled in autumns leaves

Day grows shorter
hush a bye
breezes whisper sooner
beneath winters batten blanket
hugs the earth

in nursery
green pastures
future forests taken root
shading tomorrows daydreams
they might
by dappled light

Shall one seek the cooling comfort
they will provide
if thieves that forage
striped bandits
carry off and store away
October's glory
autumns bounty
architects of tomorrows forests
planting inadvertently
natures canopy

Artist upon canvas paints
a masterpiece
one may create
perhaps more poetic
in verse or lyric
inspired by majestic treasures

look upon the forests
gaze upon the trees
color fast before us changing
falling at our feet.....

October's glory

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Took a walk in October of 2013, Beneath some mature oak trees in a park I found handfuls of ACORNS, Filled My pockets And brought them home for the local chipmunks, Which hid them all over the place
