Ode To My Mother Poem by Bella Magik

Ode To My Mother

At times I've wondered if I've always had a strangers face
and times I've wondered if I'm standing in a strangers place
to see me as I never was, in time, becomes a waste
of moments lost to all, the years that time cannot replace

My own reflection shattered in your eyes so long ago
as I became the tangled weed you never meant to grow
to walk beside you is a journey, sadly, I will never know
for I am merely fading twilight in your distant afterglow

I tried so hard to be some-one you'd want to be around
I looked beneath the surface, searching for our common ground
after all this time it seems the only thing I've found
are the ties of obligation, that keep us loosely bound

as my disappointments leave behind another stain
and how you choose to see me is the way I will remain
tomorrow's donot offer us the chance to start again
but only serve as a reminder that some things never change.
