Ode To My Path Poem by Victor Okechukwu Anyaegbuna

Ode To My Path

Rivers on which I shall peacefully sail
To wreck the carnal fangs of blackmail;
The brooded fallows of ebbing trail
That, in times ahead shall avail.
Let these waters soothe my skin,
Scrub me and wash me clean
Let me be what I might have been,
That courted progress never seen.

Fires on which I shall peacefully wail
To burn my mortal deeds so frail;
The fangs that bring pain and wheal,
Yet mentors my heart’s travail.
Let these fires my mortal sins destroy,
To smoke my ebbing dreams and employ.
Let me in God’s hands be a toy
He, my fabled dreams to deploy.

Let the air I shall breathe to live alight
And tender renewed eagles in flight;
That I may stand again and fight.
Let my life renew in height and might;
Let my lungs be recharged
With cleansing bubbles restored
That I may glow and be kindled
In life’s candle, lit and refreshed.

Let the earth that holds my feet
In all my struggles, bear my weight
That was assembled by my spirit,
And powered my motions right.
Let the earth be, that shall swallow
All I have been, deep and shallow,
If my integrity shall then be hollow
Let my sins also die, whole and fallow.
