Of A Tolerant Society Poem by Francis Duggan

Of A Tolerant Society

Of a tolerant society we so often do hear
But the word tolerant can be taken out of context or so 'twould appear
It means i just tolerate him or her that and nothing more
One might say of that we have heard it before,
A tolerant society means to them we will not be rude
But from our Community meetings and parties them we will exclude
A tolerant society are words Government Ministers use
With their ambiguous nature such people never cease to amuse
Their way of saying we just tolerate you with the emphasis on tolerate
Though your culture we never will celebrate
Of a tolerant society we hear of every day
We tolerate you but respect to you we'll never pay
We will just tolerate you without being rude
But from our inner sanctum you we will exclude.
