Of Fire In The Flint. Poem by Margaret Cavendish

Of Fire In The Flint.

THE reason, Fire lies in Flint unseene;

Is, other Figur'd Atomes lye betweene:
For being bound, and overpowred by
A Multitude, they do in Prison lye.
Unlesse that Motion doth release them out,
With as strong power, which make them flye about
But if that Flint be beat to powder small;
To sep'rate the grossest, release'd are all.

But when they once are out, do not returne,

But seeke about to make another Forme.
