One Who Was Beautiful yet Nameless

By Daniel Mapp

I will always remember our fated meeting
The Greek's pictures were glistening upward clearly,
My sight lowered away from the coiled dragon,
To behold a place submerged within serenity,
A silent open stretch of land lied empty,
Verdantly a breeze passed over its greenness,
Suddenly my eyes beheld a slow approaching figure,
My breast launched forward pushed by thumbing,
What thing walked amongst the dewy lushness? -
Specters and boogies came to my mind,
It could have been a blacker terror,
But I remained upon that elevated hillock,
My conscious spoke stating within my mind,
“Have courage and patience don’t depart yet”,
From that spot I saw her walking gracefully,
Luna gleamed upon lengthy curled ashen hair,
Behind a bleached radiant face in innocent youth,
An indigo gown shrouded her curvy form,
I realized she was nearly upon me,
For I had out her appearance with ease.

Crickets ceased their mating calls being disturbed,
During her soft bare feet’s careful descent,
She looked upon my weary drowsy appearance,
After dusting green fragments off her gown’s end,
“You observe what lies within the far void? ”
Asking this she stood smiling before me,
Without the hint of an guile being,
“Yes I enjoy watching its gaseous balls.”-
I said returning her friendly mellow tone,
She looked upward to the above slowly,
“Why does he make me place it there? ”
She said in a low sorrowful wispier,
I opened my mouth yet no word formed,
I stood there pondering over what she said,
Finally I cleared my throat and spoke softly,
“Who is this ‘he’ you speak of? ”
I asked with pity driving my curious words.-
She looked upon me frowning grimly,
Many moments she stood utterly speechless,
Then she spoke with rising sorrow.

“He is the one who casted me here,
Not for a rebellious reason like the snake,
But rather to keep the lit darkness governed,
For vile things creep amongst its shade.-
While you’re detrimental race commits black deeds,
Besides keeping the dark hours secure man,
I must direct the light into the west,
From the east I drag twinkling darkness,
These are my life’s duties yet curses sadly,
For my people’s reputation consists of sanctified beauty,
Yet I am an odd blot amongst them,
I am known for rest yet fear.”-

After she spoke she reclined upon me whimpering,
My arms wrapped around her whimpering body,
“You are misunderstood by many fare one,
But me and him comprehend you seraph.”-
Her midnight hued eyes looked into mine,
Warm lips suddenly pressed against my cheek,
The east turned orange yet scarlet dawning,
She disappeared without a sound or word,
A nightingale passed soaring overhead singing softly,
It followed the ebony night retreating far westward,
He planned that meeting the earth’s crafter,
I will always remember our fated meeting.

By Daniel Mapp
Pale gleam afar amid wintry inkiness,
Within that above soundless space,
Keep watch upon my many travels,
Through the dim land Edger beheld,
From the massive canine’s eye socket;
For Luna drifts within thick shade,
Whereas Helios has lowered far westward,
You fare yet well lit lantern.

His Enraged Words (A Dedication)
By Daniel Mapp

'Look upon me with full attention now,
Before I take your breath mighty prince,
For smiting he who I loved dearly,
After your fenced town's archer protector,
Removed my wrinkly father's radiant armor,
While blurring his sapphire shaded eyes,
By simply slamming his ageless pale palm,
Into him driven by mindless high rage,
Making him loose avoidance to your attack;
His wisdom driven sister told me this,
Who sprung from Storm Crafter Jupiter's mind,
Within a vision when Peruses hovered overhead,
Clutching the monstrous serpent haired female's head! -

Do you hold the knowledge 'great warrior',
To capture the foolish inexperienced young man,
In mercy for rising against seasoned fighters,
Upon the field where Mars oversees battalions,
To intake their fallen occupants' spilled fluid;
Where multiple small iron fragments float,
Alas simpleton you know not these words,
So prepare to meet Sleep's dim twin,
After my spear passes beyond your flesh! -

Utter nothing for your fate was decided,
Before my closest friend's limbs went numb,
By your cowardly yet soft sibling's deed,
That brought the once Spartan queen away,
From the far peninsula of my home
To this plain veiled by limp bodies! ”
