Oh God Bless Us Poem by steven luneau

Oh God Bless Us

Remember how when asking God to Bless America
Its like asking a parent to do well by their child
And that well might just be through discipline
No child wishes to hear that..... unruly and wild

Yes no child takes pleasure in being spanked
nor will a nation when its prayer is answered
For some blessings come via peace and joy
And others just remember a plague may be spread

Just tough love by the back of His hand
The chastisement not feeling good
And sometimes those moments we feel hes not there
But like any child we asked for it.. in tears he understood

That what a nation wanted was not what it needed
And what it needed it didn't want
So God moves to correct the crooked paths
To change a nation child whose arrogance it flaunts
