Oh The Famous One Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Oh The Famous One

All writers have knowledge of 'Sylvia'
Valentine queen of the long ago.
William Shakespeare wrote about Sylvia
His book of poetry tells us so.
Perplexed and bewildered, he wondered
Did Sylvia have wisdom beyond compare?
As well as radiant beauty, delectable and fair.
Ah! the angels were gracious unto Sylvia,
They loaned her blue eyes and golden hair
And William became rather obsessed...
But he always returned to the little cottage
Across the fields in the Stratford air
To be with the love of his life, Anne Hathaway,
With a lovely smile, she greeted him there.
