Old Sammy Poem by Francis Duggan

Old Sammy

Old Sammy who lives on the east side his new wife is younger than his son
And like they say money speaks every language and money for him wonders have done
It has won for him another young woman for him she is wife number five
And he over seventy and unhealthy and lucky for to be alive.

On old Sammy the years are telling but his younger wife does not seem to care
A beauty in her mid thirties with shoulder length wavy blond hair
She married him only for his money though that Sammy never will know
Some men they grow old but not wiser and any wisdom for age cannot show.

To her it does not seem to matter if Sammy is not much use in bed
Or if he wears a dark wig for his vanity to cover the bald patch on his head
Or if he is older than her father and she is just beyond her prime
The only thing to her that matters is that he buys her a good time.

Old Sammy has got a young woman not much of course money cannot buy
Perhaps she may be his last woman she may be with him till he die
And perhaps she will have most of his money so with him of course she will stay
Until he gets the call from the Reaper and for him in time that cannot be far away.
