Oliver Cromwell (Written For Class) Poem by Julie Neises

Oliver Cromwell (Written For Class)

Oliver Cromwell
Need I say more?
A member of parliament
The lord protector

He didn’t believe
The king should rule
So he led a rebellion
From his parliament stool

Needless to say
Civil war was to come
The roundheads gained power
And in the end won

He gained a new nick name
Old Ironsides it was
I don’t know why
And doubt anyone does

A Puritan man
For Irish Catholics to fear
He put so many to death
It was near genocide, so I hear

Some think him a hero
Some think him a fraud
But he would be proud
He’s remembered abroad
