On Henry David Thoreau Poem by kenneth william snow

On Henry David Thoreau

Henry David Thoreau was not a recluse or hermit
It’s true he spent many hours in solitude at Walden,
writing and contemplating nature; however
he frequented the town of Concord when the
mood struck him. He even got arrested once,
for failure to pay a poll tax.
He would have been content to remain imprisoned—
but he was released,
most likely when Emerson settled his tax bill.
He was not happy with this turn of events—allegedly.
After his experiment in living was complete and the
book he produced was published (to poor sales)
he went back to making pencils…a noble calling

Mr. Snow: I do not know what makes you think that this is a) a poem or b) a proper tribute to a great man and writer. V.E. Perkins, Ph.D.
