On Hold Poem by Robin Kirsch

On Hold

I have not been entirely true
In expressing what I asked of you

Delicate I am, that is real
It is a part of me, I cannot heal

I sought to unburden you of further pressure
Leaving behind a sad and pining lover

Should you need to travel once again
Go with my blessing and no blame

My love and caring for you will never wilt
Precious, you, I did not intend to jilt

I had no right for you to choose
When we both have so much to lose

If you desire me here for you
I will tenderly be-
And if no longer your heart feels true
PLEASE TELL ME-
