On Liberty, Independence, Country And Kingship Poem by Randy Ashby

On Liberty, Independence, Country And Kingship

Crossroads like these become apparent every fourth year.
Will the people let themselves continue to be ruled by fear?
For those who have died the conscionable have shed many a tear.
When the people demand more from their leaders, will those called upon come near?
Will they support those values that we as countrymen hold so dear?
Or will the dictatorship continue as so few of us can stand to bear?
From their ivory tower the American aristocracy leer.
Will the people finally strap in, grab the wheel and steer?
Or will we continue to be ruled by those who upon hearing truth simply sneer?
As the henchmen of the bourgeoise stand by and jeer.
When the dawn of a new age finally comes near,
will the people stand up and no longer be ruled by fear?

Let us hope.
