On Love (Apologies K. Gibran) Poem by Adam Jeffries

On Love (Apologies K. Gibran)

Nature’s beauty touches my soul
And strikes a chord of serenity and awe
Mountains majesty and sparkling dawns
The layer of clouds as snow beneath me

One grain of sand on a cosmic beach
That is the universe
I stand, not important, not immortal
But for love, to hope for understanding

I don’t know if the heart of the soul
Will be warmed when I’m in a coffin
And to the ground my body is committed
But if there is to be a flicker of warmth
A spark that crosses known dimensions
I know with certainty that it shall be
Love which fuels it

Love is invigorating and sometimes sad
Hypnotic and mesmerizing; time slows
The sound of the world reduced to a reverberating
Heartbeat, heard in the temples of the mind
And felt in the temples of the soul

And with certainty I doth love you
Imagining all measures of you when apart
And studying all aspects of you when together
I long to hear your thoughts
I long to feel the whisper of your breath
On my skin when holding you while you sleep
I love the way you leap, so often without looking,
For the joy in your heart
The bounce in your step
The magic in your smile
The exhilaration of your touch
The soothing pleasure of your voice
The mischief in your eyes

I long to grow old with you
To share our lives full
To talk about anything and nothing
And make it all be something special, private, our secret

I wish so desperately for your happiness
That contentment finds a home in your soul
That each minute for you is filled with serenity…
Serenity, our baby, and me.
May you find the love
And the love set you free.
