On My Birthday
On my birthday,
You gave me the greatest gift of all,
Your love,
Expressed in magical words!
You stole my heart many many years ago,
Never got it back, never wished to get it back.
I had no idea how all-encompassing love can be,
Taking every bit of my heart,
Your heart,
My love,
Your love.
Our life -
Love, and trust, and dream, and care,
Being together,
Even not being together.
i especially enjoyed the last line: Even not being together.......BUT i'd want to have some contact with the person i LOVE, via phone, email, or other mail! memories of an absent love can be fulfilling up to a point, but, for me, would not suffice. i would probably seek ANOTHER LOVE! i usually do not care much for 'love poems', but i'll send this to My PoemList. bri ;)
