On Our Fifth Anniversary Poem by Brigitte M. Walker

On Our Fifth Anniversary

Rating: 4.5

All is fair in love and war--
And the two are closely linked...
I have fought a valiant battle:
See my finger that is ring'd!

Five years gone-- and what's the rating?
Are there doubts and questions now?
Are there jealousy and hating,
Am I "just the same old cow"??

Thoughts occur to the victorious:
Was it really all worthwhile?
Even though the flight was glorious,
Do I wear a happy smile?

Love has deepened all my feelings,
You're more precious to me now
Than on our happy wedding.
All my love-- your same old cow!
