On Our Journey Through Life Poem by Francis Duggan

On Our Journey Through Life

On our journey through life there's many a pitfall
And the gene to be evil it is in us all
Though many succeed negative urges to suppress
Despite what they say the bad gene lives nonetheless
We dislike in others what in our own selves we do see
Those words are so true or so 'twould seem to me
Those who think they are perfect suffer of self deceit
Blinded by their sheer arrogance and their conceit
We pass judgement on others and disrespect to them show
Though to us they are strangers them we do not know
Of those with money and success the praises we may sing
But at the end of our life's journey these don't mean a thing
Since to the scythe of the reaper we are destined to fall
So long live the truth in a fair go for all.
