On Reading Rita Wilson In The Huffington Post

I sought professional help, you see,
Beyond the reach of poetry
A Lonely Hearts advisory
I thought might help both you and me

And she was earnest, free of quips,
About long-lived relationships,
How love goes up and then it dips—
A multitude of useful tips:

Laugh together, kindness show,
Allow the one you love to grow
Respect wherever they may go
Try always to say Yes, not No

Don't walk away when things get rough
From time to time things will get tough
And love alone seem not enough
And all that other kind of stuff

Above all, the advice reflects
Years of research on love's effects
And you know well what's coming next:
Great lovers always have great sex.

Great sex! I'll take that any day
What's better than a lovely lay
For making hurt go all away?
That's what the experts always say.

But as advice, it's pretty thin,
As when a street fight may begin
You tell a small boy, with a grin,
"Now get in there, young man, and win! "

Those kinds of words go round and round
They make a pleasant kind of sound
But I'll bet a penny to your pound
They'll not bring death out of the ground

If that you would sweet love restore
The only answer is, Give more!
And for your pound I'll bet you four
(S) he'll love you better than before

And you'll hang about each other's necks
And overlook your small defects
And yes, you know what's coming next
You'll have some bloody marvelous sex!
