On Snake Gully Track Poem by Les Littleford

On Snake Gully Track

Moss, trillions of microscopic leaves,
Carpets rocks and leaves
In the sheltered depths of snake gully.

More millions of tiny creatures
Ferret and scurry
Through rocks, leaves and soil.

Deeper, further below
That timeless miracle of regenerative decay
Continues its evolutionary progress.

Such mysteries cannot be measured in human terms.
Our lives are too transitory.

We can only look
……. and wonder
