On Top Of Alabama Poem by JOHNNY COBB

On Top Of Alabama

On top of Alabama
Stars shine against a canvas so dark.
Experience the awesome solitude;
It's night-time at Cheaha State Park.

At 2407 feet high
It's the highest point in the state.
The Pinhoti or Appalachian Trail
This hiking vacation was simply great.

Saw ten thousand tadpoles down by the lake.
Then hiked to all three waterfalls.
Trekked by stone cabins and lodge chalets.
From Bald Rock we heard the falcons' calls.

Don't miss the Observation Tower
Or picnic tables for relaxation.
With patience you'll see some wildlife.
Just the perfect place for meditation.

The reddest sunsets you will ever see
Followed by a brilliant white full moon.
Natural beauty at Bama's tip-top,
We want to come back here real soon.
