Once More? Why? Poem by Matt Reyes

So it seems it would appear,
The dream came true which showed my fear,
And it seems that once again,
I've lost you my beautiful friend.

Once more another has taken my place,
Once more another gets to kiss your face,
Once more another has your heart,
Once more my heart is torn apart.

I hope he treats you like I would,
I hope he treats you like I could.
Oh words can't express the sorrow I feel,
I don't have you, I probably never will.

You were the light in my life so bleak,
You had the smile that made my legs weak,
Oh my light, you still are,
Your smile still as bright as the stars.

Why have we drifted so far apart?
Why such pain in my fragile heart?
Why do my eyes feel so sore?
Because of my tears that flood the floor?

Why have things changed for the worse?
Is my life just one big curse?
Why do bad days outnumber the good?
Why more tears than anyone should?

Why don't we talk like we used to?
Every weekday, night, and weekends too.
I miss those talks we used to have,
And I miss your eyes really bad.

Oh I wish I could see you every day,
And I wish I knew just what to say,
I wish my words would come out right,
I wish that I could be your light.

I suppose the memories of us could suffice,
Though holding you again would surely be nice,
Staring into your eyes would be better,
And my eyes would not get redder.

I'll love you always for all time,
And you shall never leave my mind.

I'll love you until the end,
Now and forever my beautiful friend

I shall love you forever and ever,
Even if we are never together..

Even if I'm not your shining sun,
Even if I am not the one.

Even if you are never with me,
Even if we are not meant to be.
