Once Upon A Bridge/Jednom Na Mostu Poem by Miroslava Odalovic

Once Upon A Bridge/Jednom Na Mostu

Once upon a bridge I used to speak with you
Beyond the river-summoned by hours- with its trace
You shared the secret in which the bird squotted wet through
Me who said the rain colouring drops with no face

Once into your hands-like to an unsummoned guest-
I surrendered my rage my sorrow and each spite
To carry them like that wet bird in the nest
When rains spoke through me in drops faceless and light

Once at the last forgiveness- because by you I was heard-
Water wedded-for a wedding guest-you-I called
And water wedded summoned you to be the secret-the bird
To be the drop unheard-faceless-and with nothing at all

Jednom sam s tobom govorila na mostu
Nad rijekom kad tragom zvala je svoj sat
Rekao si tajnu u kojoj –mokra- sklučala se ptica
Rekla sam kišu što boji svaku kap bez lica

Jednom sam ti u ruke ko neoukpljenom gostu
Predala svoj bijes tugu i svaki inat
Da ih nosiš k’o što nosi se ta mokra ptica
Kad kiša mnome govori u lakoj kapi bez lica

Jednom sam te-jer ču na posljednjem oprostu-
Vodom jenčana zvala da budeš mi svat
Vodom vjenčana zvala da budeš i tajna i ptica
I da budeš kap bez ičeg-nečujna-bez lica
