Once Upon A Stolen Love Poem by C. Cory Spencer

Once Upon A Stolen Love

As
Once
upon a
Stolen Love we are
Like moths drawn to light.
We met in rooms lit only by neon's
glow. Taking to back entrances disguised
with our new names for the same old shames.
We always met to fulfill the non-refillable.
To caress each other's empty spaces.
For a couple hours on a good day
less than that on Mondays.
Moments of languid love
or other times hastily.
No time for chastity
hands touching
places only
lovers
can
touch
slowly at
first then quickening
Later, we are entwined
in so many, many secrets.
Still our desires unexpressed as
daily rituals start returning, impinging.
Unrelieved longings are regaining, as if our
wishes could be fulfilled. Just this one more time.
We fly for the thrilled release succinctly. Let go!
Hearts lingering uplifted un-tethered,
as last romancing tears are falling.
Time slides back in phase.
Like moths we were
burned by the
neon's glow,
slowly.
