Once Upon A Time Poem by Abhay Vignesh Liginlal

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time I had a dream
That I was travelling in a wonderland
With paddy fields stretching into miles
The horizon was like distant death
Years seemed to be its lengthening shadow
There was a veiled maiden in my dream
She vanished into the air at dusk
At the end of the other lane came across a lake
I boarded a ferry and started rowing
Pieces of time were falling apart
As I moved ahead in the moonlit night
I could hear a whisper other than the chirp of crickets
Soon a stranger from an island sought entry into my heart
Who was this intruder in my paradise
I woke up from this dream in heaven
My heaven is on earth the paradise of love
Though life itself is all but an illusion.
