One Last Thing Poem by Carrie Sprouse

One Last Thing

PART 1

one last kiss
no more shame
as you fade from my grasp
it gets harder to remember your name

one last rose
for loneliness and pain
take it from my hand
and dropp it in the rain

one last flame
will burn until it's gone
watch it at midnights hours
as the sun approaches at dawn

one last goodbye
as you fade into the wind
forgiveness is not given
to you, for you've been sinned

PART 2

one last book
to read until you die
page after page you flip away
the sadness makes you cry

one last song
to listen to in fear
of perishing with no last words
after death isn't so clear

one last touch
to feel before the end
not dying wondering how it felt
and knowing it wasn't pretend

one last thing
to remember when you die
that everyone will turn away
no one will think to cry

PART 3

one last name
to remember until death
keep this until life
makes you take your final breath

one last fear
you suffocate in relief
you finally pushed them all away
because you had belief

one last tear
to run down your face
getting rid of the pain
making it erase

one last memory
to push out of your head
the warmth of his embrace
and all the words that he said
