One Lie Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

One Lie

It all began with one lie
It wasn't that difficult...
To question authenticity
would be an insult

Becoming a master
of deception and falsification...
Soon the ingenious pretense
took over… leading to frustration

What once was a clever strategy
now has control of the situation
The truth is barely recognizable...
each day swells with desperation

Lying can't change the facts…
in time it becomes a bed of nails
It all stops with the realization
that the truth eventually prevails
