One More Glass Of Wine Poem by Courtney Casebolt

One More Glass Of Wine

Rating: 4.0

I set the bottle down on our nightstand
& I take my place on my side of the bed
Examining the ring on my left hand
I dial your number when recent memories dance in my head

I know you’ll be leaving
Yeah you’ll be gone for a little while
But I won’t be grieving
Cause at least you’re doin’ it with a smile
Your voice just as smooth as velvet
Is now singing in my ear
But no that don’t matter
Cause it’ll still be a while before you’re here

You’re preparin’ for a five hour flight
On the end of the line
& all I wanted was a kiss goodnight
But I guess I’ll settle for one more glass of wine
Cause I won’t say goodbye
& I won’t sleep tonight
I’ll hold this pillow tight
& I promise I’ll try not to cry
Just one more glass of wine

So now you’re gone
& I’m alone
Just workin’ my day around the damn telephone
I just want you home
But I’ll keep on pourin’ one more glass of wine

Yea I’ll keep on pourin’ one more glass of wine
Cause I lost what was mine

Oh Just one more Glass of wine
