One Night Poem by sally ann jackson

One Night

Nights dark fell on sleeping beds,
fearful woes still raw in heads,
Silenced of shock I dare to speak,
Truth so hard a friend I seek.

Pain struck cruel upon the skin,
Of burning flesh from deep within.
Drop down low as try to hide,
searing through a rolling tide.

Room so full of dulcet moans,
screams of pain within its tones.
Drifting off in death like sleep,
in this place I will not weep.
