One Thousand Poems Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

One Thousand Poems

Its early in the morning
TV news crowding my brain,
The weather man says it going to rain.
Should have on the music channel to
Soothe and put me back to sleep,
ButI do want to know what's going on in the world while dawn begins to creep.

My mind's at play again so I toss Sudoku
Aside...
Off we go, my mind and I on another poetic ride.
I think I'll write a thousand poems - yes
1000 - and string them across the world
Some silly, some happy, some sounding
Like lullabies.

I'll post them all in fancy fonts and rainbow
Colors to make folks laugh
Some words short, some with see-through
Mask -
Some divinely made of glass.

I'll fill the sky for star light serenades and
Some in sunny haloed crowns
Some standing on their heads and some
Upside down.

Children will do cartwheels and whisper
The words in rhyme
Birds will mimic the melodies and sing
Them all the time.

Words of love and sweet caresses will ride
On fluffy clouds
At night the moon will capture each and
Serenade for hour and hours.

One thousand poems, what a glorious task
To scatter, to last for all eternity
In every language, just wait and see!

So off I go, my heart over flowing,
With Poetic verses, soon the world will be
Knowing!
