One Thousand Waterfalls (An Apology) Poem by Jana Rininger

One Thousand Waterfalls (An Apology)

Under one thousand waterfalls
My soul shall be washed clean
I've said everything possible
Awful, biting words I didn't mean

The letters drip in my throat
Uncomfortable, itching tones
Struggling to craft the most difficult words
Chilling each and every one of my bones

To the arms of silence I fall
Unable to comprehend
I've tried for so long now
To get this message to send.

An apology is due to you
Please accept, for without a mind's rest
I am lost to a stranger self I never knew,
A person who is not her best.

Join hands with me, together we'll see
That forgiveness is possible, Please
Maybe one thousand waterfalls
Will put our spirits at ease
